Beychevelle 1961 is a mature-vintage, Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from the Fourth Growth Château Beychevelle in St-Julien. This beautiful estate covers 250 hectares of which about 90 are planted with vines. Always one of the more approachable wines of the appellation, Beychevelle has enjoyed a consistent run of good to excellent vintages in recent years, though older wines from top vintages are also well worth looking out for. "Depth of flavour makes this firmly textured wine special. It has enticing earthy, tobaccolike aromas, ripe fruit flavours, just enough tannin and a lingering finish." Wine Spectator, 2006

A Classic Saint Julien Classed Growth

Reflecting the elegance and finesse of Saint Julien's finest terroirs, fourth growth Château Beychevelle spans 90ha and is renowned for its graceful and complex first wine, made from the best plots in the vineyard and that boasts a wonderful capacity for aging.

A second wine, Amiral de Beychevelle, is also made from young vines. The estate is planted to predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, together with smaller percentages of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Expect supple, balanced wines with tremendous aromatic richness.
