Situated in the Haut-Médoc, Château Bernadotte spans a 35-hectare estate characterized by gravel, sand, and some clay soils. The vineyards boast a composition of approximately 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, with an average vine age of around 30 years. The 2010 vintage is a well-matured Bordeaux, presenting a dark garnet hue. Its aroma and palate are dominated by tertiary notes, featuring dried plums and cherries, with a lingering essence of cassis, complemented by earthy, cedar, cloves, and leather nuances. The tannins are seamlessly integrated, and a well-balanced acidity adds to its overall appeal.

The 2010 Bernadotte is relatively subdued on the nose with earthy black fruit laced with smoke and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with rather scrawny tannins, moderate acidity but it is missing some cohesion and flesh towards the finish. A disappointing showing vis-à-vis previous bottles.
