Benromach Sassicaia Finish 2005 is a Speyside single malt that underwent a finishing period in casks previously used to age the prestigious Bolgheri red wine. This process introduces a profile marked by red cherry and herbal elements. Aromas of red berries, lemon zest and a hint of earthy smoke emerge on the nose. The palate reveals a medium-bodied, smooth texture with flavours of poached pears, white chocolate and a light herbal note. The Sassicaia wood imparts a subtle sweetness that harmonises with the whisky`s natural acidity. The finish maintains clarity, leaving a lasting impression of citrus and honeyed malt.

A Gently Peated Speysider

Founded in 1898 by Ducan McCallum is F.W. Brickman, Benromach is a Speyside distillery located in Morayshire. The distillery operate one wash still and one spirit still and annual production is around half a million litres a year. Following a period of closure, the distillery was acquired by Gordon and MacPhail in the early 1990s and bottling resumed later the same decade, much to the delight of single malt enthusiasts. The spirit is generally peated to a slightly higher level than one would expect from a Speysider, around 8 - 12 ppm.

Limited editions and cask finishes have been central to Benromach's identity in recent years while the core range offers fantastic quality across the board.
