Benromach Peat Smoke (2015 Release) is a heavily peated Speyside single malt produced in limited batches. Unlike the standard house style, this expression uses barley malted to 67ppm, resulting in a profile dominated by intense smoke. Medicinal smoke and sea spray lead the aromatics, followed by lemon zest and vanilla sweetness. The texture on the palate is powerful and thick, featuring complex flavours of charred oak, ash and briny minerals. It concludes with a long, drying finish marked by a persistent trail of wood smoke and Atlantic sea air, representing a significant departure from the distillery`s typical fruit-forward character.

A Gently Peated Speysider

Founded in 1898 by Ducan McCallum is F.W. Brickman, Benromach is a Speyside distillery located in Morayshire. The distillery operate one wash still and one spirit still and annual production is around half a million litres a year. Following a period of closure, the distillery was acquired by Gordon and MacPhail in the early 1990s and bottling resumed later the same decade, much to the delight of single malt enthusiasts. The spirit is generally peated to a slightly higher level than one would expect from a Speysider, around 8 - 12 ppm.

Limited editions and cask finishes have been central to Benromach's identity in recent years while the core range offers fantastic quality across the board.
