Benromach 30 Year Old represents a significant milestone in the long-aged reserves, showcasing spirit produced before the temporary closure in 1983. This Speyside malt spent 30 years in Sherry wood, developing an intricate profile of dried fruits and old leather. It opens with notes of beeswax and polished mahogany, leading into a palate of concentrated plums, dark chocolate and a faint, smouldering peat. The texture is velvety and full, demonstrating a seamless integration of oak tannins. A long, elegant finish reveals nuances of cedar and tobacco, reflecting the depth achieved through three decades of patient maturation.

A Gently Peated Speysider

Founded in 1898 by Ducan McCallum is F.W. Brickman, Benromach is a Speyside distillery located in Morayshire. The distillery operate one wash still and one spirit still and annual production is around half a million litres a year. Following a period of closure, the distillery was acquired by Gordon and MacPhail in the early 1990s and bottling resumed later the same decade, much to the delight of single malt enthusiasts. The spirit is generally peated to a slightly higher level than one would expect from a Speysider, around 8 - 12 ppm.

Limited editions and cask finishes have been central to Benromach's identity in recent years while the core range offers fantastic quality across the board.
