Benromach 1974 is an exceptionally rare and highly aged Speyside single malt from a landmark year. At nearly 40 years of age, this spirit has reached extraordinary concentration and aromatic complexity. The nose is profound, featuring layers of dark chocolate, tobacco, dried figs and deep vanilla bean. On the palate the whisky is dense and multi-layered with a seamless texture that coats the mouth. Despite its age it maintains a vibrant character where the intense oak tannins are perfectly integrated with the sweet, concentrated spirit. It is an authoritative malt that finishes with extraordinary persistence and a sophisticated note of cedar and spice.

A Gently Peated Speysider

Founded in 1898 by Ducan McCallum is F.W. Brickman, Benromach is a Speyside distillery located in Morayshire. The distillery operate one wash still and one spirit still and annual production is around half a million litres a year. Following a period of closure, the distillery was acquired by Gordon and MacPhail in the early 1990s and bottling resumed later the same decade, much to the delight of single malt enthusiasts. The spirit is generally peated to a slightly higher level than one would expect from a Speysider, around 8 - 12 ppm.

Limited editions and cask finishes have been central to Benromach's identity in recent years while the core range offers fantastic quality across the board.
