Situated on the outskirts of the ancient market town of Forres, Benromach is Speyside’s smallest distillery. It is currently owned by Gordon & MacPhail, the prestigious spirits company based in Elgin. This particular vintage release formed part of the Rare Malts Selection which is now discontinued. Bottled at a robust 63.8% ABV, it is an uplifting whisky, with notes of sweet spices, orange zest, toffee, grapefruit and a touch of mint. Classy and rewarding.

A Gently Peated Speysider

Founded in 1898 by Ducan McCallum is F.W. Brickman, Benromach is a Speyside distillery located in Morayshire. The distillery operate one wash still and one spirit still and annual production is around half a million litres a year. Following a period of closure, the distillery was acquired by Gordon and MacPhail in the early 1990s and bottling resumed later the same decade, much to the delight of single malt enthusiasts. The spirit is generally peated to a slightly higher level than one would expect from a Speysider, around 8 - 12 ppm.

Limited editions and cask finishes have been central to Benromach's identity in recent years while the core range offers fantastic quality across the board.
