The 2016 Château Belgrave is a classic blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. Deep and concentrated in appearance, the bouquet is complex and intense with dark fruits, liquorice and spice. On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied with a deep core of black fruit, fine-grained tannins and enough structure for extensive ageing. Drink 2020-2040.
90 Vinous
The 2016 Belgrave has a high-toned bouquet with red and black fruit, liquorice and sandalwood coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy, ripe tannins, quite intense and dense, but there is more freshness and tension on the finish compared to the La Tour Carnet. Give this another 12 months in bottle because this definitely represents outstanding value in today’s market. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. Neal Martin16th April 2026
16 Jancis Robinson
Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Light, sweet nose, clearly a ripe vintage. Just lacks a bit of energy but ticks the boxes. A bit austere. Needs food. (JR)Jancis Robinson11th February 2026
