Château Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse is a leading wine estate situated within the Saint-Émilion appellation. The property has been classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B since the Saint-Émilion classification was created in 1955 – a position that was once again secured in 2022. The 2019 vintage is a blend composed of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc, matured in a combination of new and used oak barrels. It is a medium- to full-bodied wine, marked by notes of blackberries, dark chocolate and liquorice, plus floral and mineral elements.

The 2019 Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse is made from 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes barreling out with bold notes of stewed black plums, blackberry pie, and fruitcake, plus wafts of tar, Indian spices, and licorice. The medium to full-bodied palate is rich and densely packed with expressive black fruits, framed by firm, rounded tannins, finishing long and spicy.Lisa Perrotti-Brown1st May 2023

The 2019 Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarosse has a composed and more backward nose with blackberry, raspberry coulis and cedar, quite airy yet focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, quite stern and structured, backward and unyielding towards the finish laced with graphite that lingers on the aftertaste. This seriously requires time. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Neal Martin1st February 2023
