The Beaune Les Aigrots Rouge Michel Lafarge 2013 is a Pinot Noir from a challenging, low-yield vintage in Burgundy, where climatic conditions significantly affected production levels. Domaine Michel Lafarge, a respected biodynamic winery in Volnay, cultivates 0.66 hectares in the Premier Cru Les Aigrots vineyard. The 2013 vintage resulted in minimal quantities due to adverse weather, presenting a wine characterised by a restrained nature. It exhibits bright red fruit aromas with a subtle minerality, alongside a structured palate marked by firm acidity, culminating in a dry finish that reflects the vineyard`s terroir.
Vinous
(production here was just five hectoliters per hectares due to severe hail damage, according to Frédéric Lafarge): Bright red. Black cherry, earth and a hint of leather on the nose. In a distinctly cool style and a bit lacking in give. Shows a medicinal cast to its dark fruit and earth flavors and less purity than the Volnays here. Harmonious in its own terms but finishes dry.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2015
