Beaune Grèves Michel Lafarge 2015 is a Premier Cru red Burgundy from the certified organic and biodynamic Domaine Michel Lafarge. The estate holds a 0.38-hectare parcel within the Les Grèves climat, situated on a moderately steep, east-facing slope, containing old vines planted in the 1920s and 1951. The concentrated 2015 vintage yielded a wine with pronounced dark fruit components, including cherry and plum, backed by complex notes of game and earth. Following 100% de-stemming and fermentation, the wine was aged for 18 months in barrel, resulting in a muscular structure built for extended cellar ageing.

The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Greves comes from Lafarge`s oldest vines—now a not too shabby 94 years old. It offers candied orange peel and red cherries on the nose, somehow quite "lighthearted" and "carefree" compared to others. The palate is fresh and vibrant, very focused with super-fine tannin, crisp acidity and a little more precision than the Beaune Aigrots. The salinity on the finish takes you back for another sip and by that time, you are telephoning your husband or wife or anyone nearby to back up the truck and load up on this outstanding Beaune. - Neal Martin
92 Vinous
Bright medium red. Ripe, complex aromas of raspberry, strawberry, musky soil tones and underbrush, plus a faint leathery nuance. Big, rich, mouthfilling wine with a remarkably spherical shape for Beaune wine. Finishes with ripe, dusty tannins and excellent savory persistence. Two thousand fifteen is a great vintage with rare plenitude, noted Frédéric Lafarge.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2018

94-year-old vines – their oldest. Really exciting mineral aromas. Lift and freshness. Racy and juicy. Great depth and integrity. Electric tension. Real excitement on the finish. (JR)
