Beaune Clos des Mouches Blanc Joseph Drouhin 2017 is a white Burgundy crafted exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. The Joseph Drouhin estate maintains a 6.75-hectare plot within the Premier Cru Clos des Mouches vineyard, located on the mild mid-slope of Beaune, adjacent to Pommard, and oriented east/south-east. The 2017 vintage exhibits a complex bouquet of white lilac, white rose, orchard fruits and grilled hazelnut. Aged in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, the wine showcases a satiny texture and distinct minerality.

- The 2017 Beaune Clos des Mouches Blanc 1er Cru has a light bouquet of apple peelings, hints of candle wax and white flower, though I would like a little more delineation. The palate is well balanced with good weight, opulent, slightly waxy in texture and richer on the finish than I would have expected for a 2017. I would drink this over the next several years. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
