Beaune Clos des Mouches Blanc Joseph Drouhin 2006 is a Premier Cru white wine from the Beaune appellation of the Côte de Beaune. The 2006 vintage in Burgundy produced wines with significant weight and aromatic ripeness, which have evolved into complex tertiary profiles. This bottling is sourced from one of the most famous parcels in the sub-region, offering a nose of honey, toasted hazelnuts and dried lemon peel. Despite its age, the wine retains a balanced acidity and a silken texture that reflects the meticulous biodynamic viticulture of the Drouhin family.

Medium yellow. Very ripe aromas of apricot, lemon cream, crème caramel and butterscotch, plus a whiff of mint. Fat, silky and sweet on the palate yet juicy as well, showing a captivating dusty texture and a complicating floral element. This lovely rich, mature white Burgundy possesses surprising structure and gives a firmer impression of acidity than its numbers suggest. Finishes with good floral lift and a suggestion of tannic spine that reminded me of a Corton-Charlemagne. (37 h/h; 3.44 pH; 3.6 g/l acidity)Stephen Tanzer1st February 2019
