With over 140 years of history and wines from close to 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs. The 1996 Beaune Clos des Mouches Blanc is a wonderful mature Chardonnay, exuding delicious notes of honey-drizzled stone fruits, citrus, beeswax, marzipan and crushed stone minerality. This would pair brilliantly with white fish roasted on the bone with lemon, fennel and herbs.

Vinous
Full, bright yellow-gold. Very ripe, musky, alluring scents of apricot, marzipan and white truffle. Nicely concentrated, surprisingly fresh, acid-driven wine with an element of balsamic complexity to its flavors of very ripe stone fruits, smoke and toast. Offering an attractive balance of sweet and saline elements, this very rich wine should go on for at least several more years. (47 h/h; 3.28 pH; 4.5 g/l acidity)Stephen Tanzer1st February 2019
