Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is arguably the most iconic, and collectable, of all Napa Cabernets. Symbolising more than a century of Napa winemaking history, it is the flagship wine of Beaulieu Vineyard in the town of Rutherford, and a benchmark for the rich, concentrated Napa Cabernet style. Beaulieu vineyard was the first cult wine producer in the Napa Valley, founded in 1900 by Georges de Latour.
91 Vinous
Healthy dark red with little sign of amber at the rim. Aromas of cassis, dark cherry, cedar and black olive convey an impression of medicinal reserve. At once dense and juicy, showing good intensity and savory soil tones but still a bit folded in on itself. A fairly powerful wine, not edgy or dry. A second, slightly better bottle was a bit more vibrant and forthcoming on the nose and more pliant in the mid-palate. (12.9% alcohol; 3.36 pH; 6.5 g/l acidity)Stephen Tanzer1st April 2019
