The 1999 Etienne Sauzet Bâtard-Montrachet is a white Burgundy from a vintage renowned for its favourable conditions. Domaine Etienne Sauzet holds a unique 0.14-hectare plot within the esteemed Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard. This wine presents a complex aroma profile of ripe stone fruits, delicate oak influences and mineral undertones, indicative of its terroir. On the palate, it offers a full-bodied experience with notable intensity, revealing layers of honey and nutty richness as it matures. The finish is lengthy and persistent, showcasing the balance between power and subtlety typical of its pedigree.

Domaine Etienne Sauzet`s 1999 Batard-Montrachet has a fabulous nose of candied white fruits, juniper berries, poached pears, and sweet, sexy spices. It is medium-to-full-bodied, broad-shouldered, and reveals great concentration in its lush, voluptuous personality. This wine is densely packed with fruits, spices, perfume, and talcum-like flavors that linger throughout its long finish. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. - Pierre Rovani

Musky, truffley aromas of pear blossom, herbs and menthol. Much fuller and more powerful than the Chevalier-Montrachet but less complex and less precise today. A typically dense, broad-shouldered Batard that very young but appears to have the balance for longer-term greatness.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2001
