Domaine Leflaive has been a family-owned estate since 1717 and covers approximately 44 hectares of vineyards. Since the death of Anne-Claude Leflaive in 2015, Brice de la Morandière has been in charge of the iconic property. This release comes from four parcels of Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru that were planted between 1962 and 1989. Expect notes of candied citrus fruit, toasty oak, flinty minerality and a dash of spices.

Pale bright yellow. Sexy perfume of lemon, lime, clove and white flowers. A step up in weight and power from the Bienvenue, but still with lovely lift to the generous flavors of ripe peach and spices. Wonderfully energetic, tactile wine with terrific rising length and grip, and a late mineral character that contributes finesse. But this big, rich, backward Batard will need time to express itself.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2013

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
