Bâtard-Montrachet Domaine Leflaive 2002 is a prestigious white Burgundy sourced from the Grand Cru vineyard of Bâtard-Montrachet. Domaine Leflaive maintains approximately 1.5 hectares within this vineyard, distributing its parcels across both the Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet sides. The 2002 vintage is recognised for showcasing a harmonious balance of richness and acidity. Expect flavours of ripe stone fruits, complemented by notes of citrus and underlying minerality. This wine reflects the producer`s commitment to biodynamic practices, which enhance the purity of expression typical of this esteemed vineyard.

Four beautiful wines from Leflaive are poured with the first course; a side-by-side comparison of the Chevalier and Bâtard across vintages 1996 and 2002. Leflaive’s 2002 Bâtard-Montrachet rounds out this flight in grand style. Seamless, opulent and totally voluptuous, the 2002 is impossible to resist. Layers of flavor build in the glass as this flamboyant Burgundy dazzles all the senses. This is a great showing from the 2002. Wow! On this night, the 2002 is absolutely stunning.Antonio Galloni1st December 2015

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity.
