Barolo Villadoria 1971 is a mature Riserva Speciale Nebbiolo from the Serralunga d’Alba commune in Piedmont. This wine hails from an exceptional vintage and was produced during the formative years of the estate, which was founded by Pietro Lanzavecchia in 1959. It displays a deep rust-red colour and a complex nose of tar, violets, leather and truffle. The palate retains a robust backbone of acidity and integrated tannins, offering evolved flavours of dried cherry, tobacco and autumnal forest floor. Following 60 months of ageing to meet the Riserva Speciale requirements of the time, the liquid has developed a silky texture and a long, savoury finish.
