Cappellano Barolo Otin Fiorin Piè Rupestris 2012 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard Nebbiolo from the Barolo appellation of Piedmont, northern Italy. The wines of Cappellano are considered to be some of the most uncompromising ‘old-school’ Barolos available in the market. Otin Fiorin Piè Rupestris is one of two single-site Barolos produced in the Gabutti vineyard in Serralunga by this highly esteemed producer. On the 2012 vintage. "The 2012 Barolo Barolo Rupestris is super-refined and nuanced. Expressive floral notes and bright, red-toned fruit lift from the glass in this very pretty, elegant Rupestris. Silky tannins add to the wine`s considerable appeal. In most vintages, Rupestris is a bigger wine, but the 2012 is especially elegant. The 2012 captures the essence of what makes Barolo such a compelling wine - above all else, power without excess weight. Stated simply, the 2012 is a total knockout." Vinous, 2018

Although it is early, at this stage I prefer it slightly to the Franco. Antonio Galloni1st February 2018
