GB Burlotto Barolo Monvigliero 2012 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard Nebbiolo red wine from the Barolo appellation of northern Italy. Founded by Giovan Battista Burlutto in 1850, GB Burlotto is a renowned Bartolo producer based in the commune of Verduno. Founder Commandatore Burlotto pioneered various new winemaking techniques in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including longer macerations and larger oak casks for ageing. The wines of the property are much sought-after and renowned for their elegance, balance and ageability. This is a 100% Nebbiolo from vines grown across 2.02ha in Monvigliero. The vineyard is situated in the northern part of the Barolo area, not far from the Tanaro river. The wine is matured in Slavonian and Allier oak barrels for about three years. "This opens with balsamic aromas, leather, ripe raspberry, iris and a heady whiff of pressed powder while the succulent, delicious palate delivers ripe black raspberry, cake spice and aromatic herb. Firm, polished tannins provide structure and envelope the palate." Wine Enthusiast, 2016

The 2012 Barolo Monvigliero is a wine of extraordinary finesse. Sculpted, precise and beautifully delineated throughout, the Monvigliero possesses striking precision from the very first taste. Vinification with whole clusters gives the Monvigliero its characteristic aromatic lift, but it is the overall finesse of the tannins and the wine`s overall balance that stand out most. All the elements are perfectly balanced in a sublime Barolo endowed with tons of personality. The 2012 is pure pleasure to drink today, but it should develop beautifully for the next several decades. Next to some of the other recent versions, the 2012 is gracious and light on its feet. - Antonio Galloni - The 2012 Barolo Monvigliero is a wine of extraordinary finesse.
