Barolo Bricotto 2010 is a rare, single-vineyard Nebbiolo from Domenico Clerico, produced from a tiny 0.3-hectare plot in the Bussia vineyard in Monforte d’Alba. Unlike Clerico’s more famous crus, Bricotto is produced in extremely limited quantities, often restricted to just 750 magnums annually. The 2010 vintage is regarded as a modern classic, benefitting from a balanced growing season that allowed for deep phenolic development and preserved acidity. Clerico utilised rotary fermenters and a maturation period in French oak barriques to polish the tannins. The wine offers a rich bouquet of black cherries, plums and leather, with a full-bodied structure that is currently beginning to resolve. This magnum format ensures a slower oxidative development, making it an ideal candidate for long-term cellaring.
