Barbaresco Crichët Pajé Roagna 2014 is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from the Barbaresco region of Piedmont. The wine displays aromas of dried herbs, cherries and earthy undertones. A characteristic minerality underlines the profile, accompanied by hints of tar and spice. The tannins are pronounced yet retain a certain finesse. 2014 was marked by a cool growing season, which contributed to the wine`s elegance and restraint. This vintage underwent an extended maturation of eight years, with just 1,640 bottles produced.

The 2014 Barbaresco Crichët Pajé is a slender and extremely delicate wine with fragile floral aromas of roses or fresh violets picked off the forest floor. Those bright aromas are framed by light mineral shadings, aniseed and iron ore. The tannins are a little more structured here, yet they maintain that magical lightness and ethereal quality that you get across the Roagna portfolio. You will remember that 2014 saw lots of rain and cooler average temperatures, but many of Piedmont`s best wines turned out especially graceful as a result of these conditions. This wine sees an extended eight-year aging period in both oak cask and cement. I tasted bottle 828 of only 1,640 made. - Monica Larner

The 2014 Barbaresco Crichët Pajé is a fine example of the style Luca Roagna favors today. Elegant and refined, with tons of ethereal beauty, the 2014 conveys tons of nuance and complexity, but without excess weight. Hints of kirsch, red plum, mint and spice lead into the refined, sublime finish. Superb.Antonio Galloni24th May 2024
