Balvenie Vintage Cask 17893 1974 is a Speyside single malt distilled on 05 June 1974 and matured in a single Sherry butt. This expression was bottled on 03 July 2007 at a natural strength of 52.8% ABV as part of the prestigious Vintage Cask collection. The profile offers an incredible depth of honey, caramel custard and Seville orange integrated with evolving notes of dried spice and leather. On the palate, the whisky delivers a thick, oily texture and a complex array of flavours that reflect over 30 years of intensive wood interaction. Only 238 bottles were produced, making it a rare and concentrated example of the distillery capability for extended Sherry maturation under the supervision of Malt Master David Stewart.

One of Speyside's most famous single malts, located in Dufftown and owned by William Grant and Sons. The distillery was founded in the late 1800s by William Grant, who worked at the Mortlach distillery nearby. Master Distiller David Stewart is credited with making Balvenie the powerhouse we know today.

David worked at Balvenie for many decades and introduced many innovations that are now widespread across the industry including 'cask finishes' where whiskies are aged for a period in ex-Bourbon wood before being finished for a relative short period in a more active barrel.
