Balvenie Port Wood Finish 1993 is a Speyside single malt distilled in 1993 and finished in Port pipes before its release. This expression represents an early experiment in wood finishing led by Malt Master David Stewart at the Dufftown estate. Maturation begins in traditional bourbon barrels before a secondary period in Portuguese oak adds layers of red fruit and nutty complexity. The resulting spirit delivers a creamy texture with notes of honey, ripe grapes and delicate spice. At 40% ABV, it maintains the smooth, cereal-forward house style while incorporating the vinous influence of the Port wood.

Crafted with Care
One of Speyside's most famous single malts, located in Dufftown and owned by William Grant and Sons. The distillery was founded in the late 1800s by William Grant, who worked at the Mortlach distillery nearby. Master Distiller David Stewart is credited with making Balvenie the powerhouse we know today.
David worked at Balvenie for many decades and introduced many innovations that are now widespread across the industry including 'cask finishes' where whiskies are aged for a period in ex-Bourbon wood before being finished for a relative short period in a more active barrel.
