Balvenie 34 Year Old Cask 14813 1972 is a Speyside single malt distilled on 17 November 1972 and bottled as part of the Vintage Cask series. This expression was drawn from a single Sherry cask and bottled on 11 July 2007 at 47.3% ABV. The 1972 vintage is legendary among collectors for its exceptional quality and the richness of the Sherry wood selected during that era. The profile offers a luxurious array of honeycomb, dark fruits and toasted walnuts. On the palate, the whisky provides a thick, velvety texture with layers of spice and oak resin. Only 162 bottles were released, highlighting the masterful maturation overseen by David Stewart and the profound influence of high-quality European oak.

Crafted with Care

One of Speyside's most famous single malts, located in Dufftown and owned by William Grant and Sons. The distillery was founded in the late 1800s by William Grant, who worked at the Mortlach distillery nearby. Master Distiller David Stewart is credited with making Balvenie the powerhouse we know today.

David worked at Balvenie for many decades and introduced many innovations that are now widespread across the industry including 'cask finishes' where whiskies are aged for a period in ex-Bourbon wood before being finished for a relative short period in a more active barrel.
