This 12-year-old Balvenie was released in 2008 to replace the 10-year-old Founders Reserve. The whisky was aged in first-fill bourbon barrels, refill casks and sherry butts. The nose reveals gorgeous hints of dates and walnut cake, a little honeyed oiliness, some cocoa and crystallized ginger. The palate is delicately vinous, boasting notes of raisins, figs, quince, cinnamon and green leaves.

Crafted with Care
One of Speyside's most famous single malts, located in Dufftown and owned by William Grant and Sons. The distillery was founded in the late 1800s by William Grant, who worked at the Mortlach distillery nearby. Master Distiller David Stewart is credited with making Balvenie the powerhouse we know today.
David worked at Balvenie for many decades and introduced many innovations that are now widespread across the industry including 'cask finishes' where whiskies are aged for a period in ex-Bourbon wood before being finished for a relative short period in a more active barrel.
