Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Ausone is situated on the western edge of Saint-Emilion and is now ranked in the highest possible category for quality - Premier Grand Cru Classé (A). Producing around 2,000 cases a year from around 7 hectares of vines, the wine is usually a roughly equal split of Cabernet Franc & Merlot. The 1998 is a marvellous release of great aromatic complexity and brilliant definition. Now at 23 years of age this should be entering its peak drinking window.

Saturated deep ruby, much darker and brighter than the other vintages tasted. Sappy, fresh aromas of boysenberry, cassis, minerals, bitter chocolate and espresso, with complicating notes of underbrush and earth. Extremely pure and penetrating, with fruit of steel and a powerful mineral underpinning. Finishes with strong, firm tannins and great persistence. Readers should not hesitate to check out Ausone`s new second wine, Chapelle d`Ausone. It reveals Ausone`s minerality, finesse, and quality presented in a lower-keyed, more open-knit style.

A dense opaque purple color offers up restrained, but pure aromas of liquid minerals, blackberries, black raspberries, and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, with high tannin but a long, super-pure, symmetrical mouth-feel, this dazzling, extremely complex Ausone requires 6-10 years of cellaring. Very deep purplish crimson. Member of quite another family than 1-3! Much more intense, concentrated and modern. Round, dramatic, not so recognisably Ausone – or even St Emilion – at all, though there is an undertow of terroir. Well made but extremely difficult to score against 1. Rather dry finish suggests oak very slightly overdone. Inky finish. (JR)

An Historic Saint-Émilion Estate

Named after the Roman poet Ausonius, who kept around 100 acres of vineyards in and around the area, Château Ausone is one of only four wines to be ranked Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the classification of Saint-Émilion wine. The winery is located on the Right Bank, close to the actual town of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux. The smallest of the First Growths - with only seven hecatres of vines - 10% of which goes into producing the second wine, La Chapelle d'Ausone.

With its characteristic fresh limestone soils, Château Ausone produces wonderfully mineral red wines, all farmed organically. The key grape varieties are Cabernet Franc and Merlot, with smaller percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot also planted.
