Famed for its exclusive use of triple distillation, Auchentoshan was founded by Irish refugees in 1825 on the outskirts of Glasgow and it is one of the last active distilleries in the Lowlands. This is a single cask, official distillery archive release from Auchentoshan, distilled on 4th October 1965 and aged in a hogshead for 31 years in Cask #2144.

Triple Distilled Lowland Malt

Situated at the foot of the Old Kilpatrick Hills near Glasgow, Auchentoshan means "corner of the field" in Gaelic. Auchentoshan is one of the last few remaining Lowland distilleries - producing an elegant, lighter style of single malt. The spirit is distilled not twice like most Scottish whiskies, but three times, a technique used famously by Irish distillers to create a smoother dram. This isn't so surprises when you find out that Auchentoshan was founded by Irish immigrants who moved to Clydebank in the 1800s.

If you're looking for a lighter dram, Auchentoshan is a fantastic option. Subtle and elegant, this is a single malt that appeals to those who might find more traditional Scottish single malts too aggressive on the palate.
