Aubert Eastside Russian River Chardonnay 2016 showcases a precise representation of the Russian River Valley`s terroir. This wine exhibits classic Chardonnay characteristics, with a focus on its balance and structure. It is produced in small quantities by Aubert Wines, founded by Mark Aubert, a former winemaker at Peter Michael Winery. The 2016 vintage reflects the nuances of the Eastside vineyard, known for its cool climate and rich soils, leading to a Chardonnay that is both complex and restrained.

The 2016 Chardonnay Eastside Vineyard is one of the more open-knit, accessible wines in the range, and the first of these Chardonnays I would choose to open. Orchard fruit, dried pear, flowers, almonds and mint are all laced together in this pretty, gracious wine. It will be interesting to see if the 2016 gains a bit more flesh over time. Today, it is a bit on the compact side.Antonio Galloni1st April 2018

Sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Aubert was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000, located on the famous Silverado trail in Calistoga. Before he and his partner opened Aubert, Mark had gained experience at the Peter Michael Winery and Colgin Cellars and also made wine at a 'custom crush' facility in California. Aubert have some proprietary vineyards, around three and half acres in Sonoma, which they bottle under the 'UV' label. The remainder of the fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Sonoma and Napa.

In the world of wine, Aubert is really a byword for world-class single vineyard or single block Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards they source from represent a mix of terroirs and include some old vines as well as some recent plantings. What remains consistent through all these bottlings is the preservation of fruit character and an extreme obsession with quality.
