Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Au Bon Climat’s 1999 Isabelle Pinot Noir is a barrel selection Pinot Noir blend aiming for Burgundian elegance and Californian depth. This cuvée, named for the late Jim Clendenen’s daughter, exhibits a complex maturity with notes of spicy red cherry, black raspberry and savoury earth that are typical of well-aged Santa Barbara Pinot Noir. Aged in new French oak, it possesses a silky, refined texture and a structure that has allowed it to age gracefully, showcasing the producer’s focus on balance and finesse over sheer power.

Medium red. Initial aromas of Fleer bubblegum and mint quickly dissipated, revealing red raspberry, spice, smoke and loam. Began rather hard-edged and penetrating, with very firm red berry flavors; with time in the open bottle, this showed a more supple texture and some Burgundian smoke and earth notes but did not lose its streak of acidity. Finishes with fine tannins and good spicy length, as well as a strong oak note of bourbon. According to my notes, the '98 bottling was far more tangy and satisfying.Stephen Tanzer1st November 2001

Central Coast’s balance of old and new

Au Bon Climat was founded by the late Jim Clendenen in 1982, a time when much of the Californian wine focus was on Napa and Sonoma. Having spent time in Burgundy, Clendenen, affectionately known as the ‘Wild Boy’, was convinced of the potential of the cool Central Coast to produce great wines from Burgundian varieties. Clendenen sadly died in 2021, but Au Bon Climat continues to produce hugely popular Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from a variety of Central Coast sites, primarily in Santa Barbara County.

Most of Au Bon Climat’s grapes are sourced from the prized Bien Nacido and Le Bon Climat vineyards. Bien Nacido is an historic, ocean-influenced vineyard lying next to the Au Bon Climat winery in the Santa Maria Valley. Le Bon Climat is a site at a similar distance from the Pacific, planted on the southern edge of the Santa Maria Valley and originally owned by Clendenen himself. Other iconic locations include Sanford & Benedict Vineyard in Sta Rita Hills and Los Alamos Vineyard in Santa Barbara County.

From the most accessible Classics series to the long-aged Blue series, the wines of ABC seem to find a perfect balance between Old World restraint and New World approachability.
