Distilled in May 1998, this Ardbeg single-barrel whisky matured for a decade in a toasted oak hogshead, before being bottled up in December 2008. The nose offers a blend of sweet and spiced elements, featuring elegant aromatic smoke and toasted warmth. Aromas of honey, lemon, lavender, and sea spray intermingle. On the palate, a dominant entrance of peat smoke unfolds, accompanied by smoky charcoal and the briny essence of menthol-eucalyptus lozenges. Additional notes include treacle toffee apples and cinnamon-spiced pears.

Ardbeg

An Islay Icon

One of Scotland's most famous distilleries, Ardbeg is located on the isle of Islay, off the rugged west coast of Scotland. Founded in the early 1800s by John McDougall, the distillery has long been renowned for the heavily peaty spirits that flows from its stills. Ardbeg fell silent for eight years in the 1980s and distillation ceased. It was closed again the mid-1990s shortly before it was acquired by Glenmorangie, who restored the distillery to its former glory.

The distillery maintains around four core expressions, including the highly acclaimed Uigeadail, and regularly releases a number of themed limited editions as part of their committee release series and the annual "Ardbeg Day" celebrations.
