A very special release from Ardbeg to mark its 200th anniversary. Launched during the Islay Festival 2015, this is a blend of old and young whiskies, matured in both bourbon and sherry casks. The nose opens up to plenty of medicinal notes, followed by earthy peat, sea salt and some menthol. On the palate, layers of dark fruits such as blackberries and dates, mingling with cinnamon, cloves and vanilla. The finish is warming and very rewarding.

An Islay Icon

One of Scotland's most famous distilleries, Ardbeg is located on the isle of Islay, off the rugged west coast of Scotland. Founded in the early 1800s by John McDougall, the distillery has long been renowned for the heavily peaty spirits that flows from its stills. Ardbeg fell silent for eight years in the 1980s and distillation ceased. It was closed again the mid-1990s shortly before it was acquired by Glenmorangie, who restored the distillery to its former glory.

The distillery maintains around four core expressions, including the highly acclaimed Uigeadail, and regularly releases a number of themed limited editions as part of their committee release series and the annual "Ardbeg Day" celebrations.
