Ardbeg 25 Year Old Xtra Old Particular Platinum 1992 is a rare single-cask Islay malt, bottled by Douglas Laing to celebrate the distillery’s legendary peated spirit. Distilled in 1992 and matured for a quarter of a century, this expression has developed a profile of immense structural depth and aromatic purity. The nose is a complex mix of medicinal peat smoke, sea spray, lemon zest and a subtle underlying sweetness of vanilla. On the palate, the whisky is powerful and full-bodied, displaying a concentrated core of charred oak, ash and briny minerals. The long maturation has softened the initial fire of the peat, resulting in a sophisticated, well-balanced dram. It finishes with extraordinary length and a persistent trail of Atlantic sea air.

An Islay Icon

One of Scotland's most famous distilleries, Ardbeg is located on the isle of Islay, off the rugged west coast of Scotland. Founded in the early 1800s by John McDougall, the distillery has long been renowned for the heavily peaty spirits that flows from its stills. Ardbeg fell silent for eight years in the 1980s and distillation ceased. It was closed again the mid-1990s shortly before it was acquired by Glenmorangie, who restored the distillery to its former glory.

The distillery maintains around four core expressions, including the highly acclaimed Uigeadail, and regularly releases a number of themed limited editions as part of their committee release series and the annual "Ardbeg Day" celebrations.
