Exclusive to the committee in 2001, this 21-year-old Ardbeg release is a blend of 12 casks from 1979 and 1980. As anticipated, it embodies the fantastic latter-day style of Ardbeg, delivering an immense concentration of flavours. It can be likened to a cask-strength rendition of the 1978 vintage.

An Islay Icon

One of Scotland's most famous distilleries, Ardbeg is located on the isle of Islay, off the rugged west coast of Scotland. Founded in the early 1800s by John McDougall, the distillery has long been renowned for the heavily peaty spirits that flows from its stills. Ardbeg fell silent for eight years in the 1980s and distillation ceased. It was closed again the mid-1990s shortly before it was acquired by Glenmorangie, who restored the distillery to its former glory.

The distillery maintains around four core expressions, including the highly acclaimed Uigeadail, and regularly releases a number of themed limited editions as part of their committee release series and the annual "Ardbeg Day" celebrations.
