Ardbeg 16 Year Old Single Oloroso Cask #2787 2006 is an Islay single malt distilled in 2006 and bottled in 2022 as a single cask release. Matured for 16 years in a first-fill Oloroso Sherry butt, this expression was bottled at a natural strength of 53.2% ABV. The profile is an intense marriage of dark fruits, roasted nuts and the distillery signature medicinal peat smoke. On the palate, the spirit delivers a thick, oily texture with secondary notes of iodine, sea spray and festive spices. Only a limited number of bottles were produced from this specific vessel, offering a rare and concentrated look at how heavy Sherry influence can balance the aggressive phenols of the Kildalton spirit.

An Islay Icon

One of Scotland's most famous distilleries, Ardbeg is located on the isle of Islay, off the rugged west coast of Scotland. Founded in the early 1800s by John McDougall, the distillery has long been renowned for the heavily peaty spirits that flows from its stills. Ardbeg fell silent for eight years in the 1980s and distillation ceased. It was closed again the mid-1990s shortly before it was acquired by Glenmorangie, who restored the distillery to its former glory.

The distillery maintains around four core expressions, including the highly acclaimed Uigeadail, and regularly releases a number of themed limited editions as part of their committee release series and the annual "Ardbeg Day" celebrations.
