The Eisele Vineyard Cabernet by Araujo Estate is one of Napa’s most iconic wines. The 2011 is a standout success in an otherwise relatively ordinary vintage and this is an open-knit wine of natural charm and finesse. In its prime drinking window, it would be perfect served with herb-encrusted rack of lamb.

Araujo has long made some of the more restrained Cabernets in Napa Valley. The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is one of the more Left Bank inflected wines in the estate's distinguished history. Beautifully layered and expressive, the 2011 graces the palate with exquisite finesse and total harmony. The 2011 isn't a huge, explosive wine like the 2010 or 2009, but it stands out for its exceptional length and vibrancy. Readers should not expect an obvious Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. I imagine the 2011 will still be marvelous at age 30, and I won't be surprised if it is one day regarded as one of the great, iconic wines of the vintage. The 2011 has been truly special since I started tasting the single blocks in the Spring of 2012. The blend is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.Antonio Galloni1st November 2013

A Napa Valley Icon

Another historic vineyard in Napa, first planted in the 1880s Eisele Vineyard sits in the northeast of the Napa Valley, east of Calistoga. Bart and Daphne Araujo converted the vineyards to organic farming in 1998 before moving to biodynamic practices in 2000. Broadly considered one of the great Cabernet Sauvignon terroirs in Napa, the wines continue to win praise from wine lovers and critics alike.

Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship wine, but the estate also producer a second wine called Altagracia, a Syrah and a Sauvignon Blanc. Before 2016, the wines were bottled under the Araujo label.
