Antica Terra Ceras Pinot Noir 2013 is a medium-bodied red wine from the Willamette Valley region of Oregon. Antica Terra is the exciting project of ex-Sine Qua Non assistant winemaker, Maggie Harrison. Based in the Eola-Amity Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Harrison works with an extraordinary patchwork of stony terroir – predominantly volcanic basalt from ancient lava flows with marine sedimentary rocks and alluvial deposits. Her forensic attention to detail in the vineyard and cellar, resulting in wines of exceptional quality and immense personality, with a distinct Old World feel. The Ceras Pinot Noir is, in Harrison`s words "all about minerality and delicacy". On the 2013. "Complex, highly perfumed aromas of raspberry, potpourri and Asian spices show mineral and blood orange nuances. Sappy, palate-staining red fruit and floral pastille flavors are brightened by a suggestion of smoky minerals and a refreshingly bitter rhubarb quality that develops with aeration. The floral and spice elements build steadily with air and carry through an impressively long, seamless finish. This graceful Pinot is delicious now, but its balance suggests a long, smooth arc of aging." Vinous, 2016

Bold and Beautiful
Antica Terra is the exciting project of ex-Sine Qua Non assistant winemaker Maggie Harrison in the Eola-Amity Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. This large-scale investment project was established in a bid to create Oregon Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays (though Roussanne features too) that would stand shoulder to shoulder with the great wines in the world.
The primary focus is Pinot Noir, with no fewer than seven different Pinot Noir clones grown on the estate. Forensic attention is paid to the quality of the grapes which produce Antica Terra wines. Harrison’s winemaking, meanwhile, is very simple: natural ferments, manually punchdowns and foot-treading of the grapes, siphons and buckets used to transfer wine into barrel rather than electric pumps, no cold settling, no racking; then simply ageing on the lees before bottling without fining or filtration. The result is wines of exceptional quality and immense personality.
