The 2018 Château Angelus is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc. The wine reveals a certain aromatic purity, marked by black fruit notes. On the palate, a touch of sweetness gives way to an elegant tension, with velvety, refined tannins. The alcohol content and the oak are perfectly integrated. The lingering finish is underpinned by the elegance of the Cabernet Franc and the essence of the fruit, mingled with delicate hints of spice. The wine will benefit from a few more years of bottle age.

A blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet franc, the 2018 Angelus is deep garnet-purple in color. It spills out of the glass with exuberant notes of cherry compote, plum preserves, and blueberry pie, followed by suggestions of Chinese five spice, potpourri, and dark chocolate, with touches of rosehip tea and underbrush. The palate is super concentrated, rich and opulent, framed by firm, velvety tannins and amazing tension, finishing with epic length.Lisa Perrotti-Brown12th March 2023

The 2018 Angélus is striking. Cabernet Franc aromatics make a strong first impression. Vibrant and delineated, the 2018 is incredibly refined in every way. The move towards a bit less extraction really seems to let the purity of the fruit come through. The same is true of a reduction of oak. All the elements come together so effortlessly. The 2018 has all the richness readers expect of Angélus, with much more finesse and more overall vibrancy, a combination that works so well. Antonio Galloni1st March 2021
