Amarone Classico Quintarelli Magnum 2015 is a red wine from the Veneto region of Italy, embodying traditional Italian winemaking practices. Produced from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara, the grapes underwent a meticulous drying process on wooden racks, enhancing concentration and complexity. The fermentation, carried out with indigenous yeasts, contributes to the wine`s distinct character. With an alcohol level of 16.5%, this vintage is notable for its richness, attributed to the warm growing season in 2015. Aged for seven years in large Slavonian oak barrels, this magnum presents a robust profile of black cherries, bitter chocolate, and spice, showcasing the artisanal approach of Giuseppe Quintarelli, a pioneer of Amarone production.

The 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva is classic Quintarelli to the core, with a vibrant cascade of exotic spices, dried flowers, citrus peels and fresh crushed cherries forming its seductive bouquet. Juicy in feel yet deep and complex, it sweeps across the palate with ripe wildberry fruits elevated by a whiplash of electric acidity as violet inner florals arc across the senses. Long and staining but also impossibly fresh, the 2015 leaves a web of fine-grained tannins as hints of plum skin and licorice slowly fade. This is a rockstar. Eric Guido25th September 2025

The Godfather of Veneto
The Quintarelli estate in the northern Veronese village of Negrar dates back to 1924 and was founded by Bepe’s father, Silvio. Bepe himself took over in the 1950s, orchestrating a quality revolution through his meticulous work in the vineyard and his uncompromising practices in the cellar. The result was wines of such hedonistic deliciousness that they became some of the most sought-after in Italy; those made before Bepe’s death in 2012 especially so.At the still family-run estate, Bepe’s legacy continues through his daughter, Fiorenza, along with her husband, Giampaolo, and their children. The core range of wines are those made in the appassimiento style (ie, with partially sun-dried grapes): the Valpolicella Superiore, Amarone, Rosso del Bepi (essentially an Amarone, but released instead of the Amarone in ‘lesser’ vintages) and Recioto. The Amarone, only released in exceptional years, is matured for fully seven years in old Slavonian oak before release. An Amarone Riserva sees 10 years.
