Amarone Classico Bertani 2010 is crafted primarily from Corvina and Rondinella grapes, sourced from the Valpolicella region in Italy. Bertani, established in 1857, is a historic winemaker renowned for its traditional methods and commitment to quality. The grapes undergo a drying process, known as appassimento, before fermentation, resulting in concentrated flavours. This particular vintage presents aromas of dried fruits, herbs, and spices, alongside a robust structure and well-integrated acidity. The wine is aged in large oak barrels, which influences its profile while preserving the fruit`s character. A complex representation of the Valpolicella region, this Amarone reflects the craftsmanship of Bertani’s heritage.

The 2010 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is deceptively fresh and floral at first, deepening further with time in the glass, as earthy minerals give way to savory cherry sauce and hints of camphor. This is silky, almost creamy in feel, with ripe red fruits and spices giving way to hints of licorice and tobacco. A coating of fine tannin lingers, along with notes of cheek-puckering tart blackberry and bitter baker’s chocolate.Eric Guido1st February 2021
