Almaviva is the Bordeaux-Chilean joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Concha y Toro, based in Puente Alto in the Maipo Valley. The 2014 blends 68% Cabernet Sauvignon with 22% Carmenère, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot aged 18 months in 100% new french oak, giving cassis, black fruits, cedar, smoke and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and dense, with round, refined tannins, it balances power with real finesse and a persistent finish. Drinking well now, it will continue to develop and offer pleasure for another decade. Pair with grilled steak or lamb.

A Cabernet Sauvignon mixed with 22% Carménère, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot from Puente Alto, Maipo that spent 18 months in French barrels. Very dark maroon in the glass. The alcoholic nose gives off black currants and blueberries with hints of hazelnuts and pepper. High-impact, voluminous, reactive tannins and a hint of smoke flow across the palate, leaving a trail of dark fruit behind.Joaquin Hidalgo1st March 2020
