Crafted from a blend of Calvados cuvées aged between 25 to 30 years, this remarkable Calvados by Adrien Camut presents a deep amber hue in the glass. Brimming with indulgent flavours of baked apples, toffee, cigar box, and tobacco leaf, the spirit offers a rich and complex experience. With a silky texture and a lingering finish, this is an excellent after-dinner treat.

Calvados in the barrel at 20 to 25 years old is in a tricky, middle age – often not yet having developed the elegant older notes of 30 or 40 years but having lost some of its youthful verve. So, this amber-colored 25-year-old bottling walks a fine line. The nose is shy at first, enveloped in oak, but eventually it opens up to fresh and leafy notes, followed by warm apple pie. In the mouth, it’s a bit flabby and there’s a little too much wood throughout. Pleasant, but for the price, steer toward other Camut bottlings. (AOC Pays d’Auge 41% abv.)Jason Wilson1st November 2018
