AA Badenhorst Kalmoesfontein White 2021 is a barrel-aged, Chenin Blanc-based white wine blend from the dryfarmed vineyards of the AA Badenhorst Kalmoesfontein farm in Swartland, South Africa. This signature white wine from the charismatic winemaker Adi Badenhorst complements Chenin fruit with smaller proportions of Rhône varieties such as Roussanne, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, Clairette Blanche and Viognier, along with Semillon and Palomino. Winemaker note. "We feel that Chenin Blanc is best suited to be the heart of the blend and that is why it forms the biggest portion of the blend. The aromas are very complex and change considerably in the glass. Perfume, spice, tea, stone fruit and citrus blossoms are some of the notes that can be detected. In the mouth the texture and ripeness and gentle tannins result in a wine that has incredible length and complex flavour profile. The wine also has wonderful fruit volume characterised by stone fruit and mineral flavours. The finish is long and has slight phenolic edges supporting the fruit through the entire length of the wine."

- The 2021 White Blend Kalmoesfontein, a field blend of 10-12 different varieties, has beeswax and dried apricot. It is discrete at first but blossoms with aeration. The palate is taut, fresh and very saline with a textural, stem ginger-infused second half that is actually reminiscent of Sadie`s Chenin. It just misses a bit of length, but there are bundles of tension.
