Grensloos Chenin Blanc 2024 is a white wine from Adi Badenhorst, sourced from dry-farmed bush vines in the Swartland. The name, meaning borderless, reflects the experimental and natural leaning of the winemaker, who utilises concrete tanks and old oak to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The 2024 vintage offers a textured and complex profile of bruised apple, wet wool and fynbos herbs, supported by a pithy acidity and a distinct mineral grip. This Chenin Blanc is defined by its textural weight and savoury depth rather than primary fruit, showcasing the viticultural potential of Swartland’s granite soils.

The 2024 Grensloos Chenin Blanc is raised in concrete and cask. It has a knockout nose with lifted lemon verbena, chamomile and fynbos scents that blossom in the glass. Very fine delineation. The palate is taut and fresh with a silver line of acidity. Lightly spiced with a pithy, lemongrass-tinged finish, this is a very capable and quite delicious Chenin that I could see partnering Asian cuisine with style. Neal Martin2nd October 2025
