Saperavi

Georgia is still very much the home of Saperavi, but it is also grown in other regions of the world, including Australia, the United States, and Ukraine. In Georgia, the grape is typically grown in the Kakheti region, where it is used to make full-bodied, complex red wines known for their deep, dark colour and rich flavours. They are often described as having notes of blackberry, black cherry, and blackcurrant, along with hints of spice, tobacco, and leather. The wines are high in tannins, giving them a firm structure and a long, lingering finish.
