 Insignia is the flagship wine from the legendary Joseph Phelps Vineyards winery in California. The 2000 vintage is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot with support from small portions of Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. It is concentrated and dark with ample black fruit, cinnamon, tobacco and graphite. With 20 years of bottle age it is now supple and rounded with a long, spice-infused finish.

 Prior to ownership by legendary Araujo Estate, fruit from the historic Eisele Vineyard was used by Joseph Phelps to create some of the finest red wines of the era. The wines have great depth and purity of black fruit, but a mineral, violet and liquorice component that emerges in the wines as they age.

 Insignia is the flagship wine of Joseph Phelps. The 1987 vintage is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and puncheons. The 1987 vintage was characterised by low crop yields and intense berry flavours. Rich, black currant flavours, exotic tobacco leaf aromas and a spicy cherry-like component.
