A beautifully precise expression of Pinot Noir from Mercurey, Le Chapitre 2023 combines ripe red and dark fruit with impressive depth and freshness. Aromas of sweet cherry, cassis and violets are joined by subtle notes of pencil shavings, leading to a dense, layered palate with silky texture, generous fruit and a broad, persistent finish. William Kelley of The Wine Advocate awarded the 2023 90 points. The fruit is harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing for 13 months in barrel, 25% new, followed by six months in stainless steel. Lorenzon’s restrained approach to oak allows the purity and character of the Pinot Noir to remain firmly at the forefront.
