First produced in 1995, Clos d’Ambonnay emerges from a tiny 0.68-hectare enclosed vineyard dedicated exclusively to Pinot Noir. The variable circumstances of 2006 gave the year’s grapes an enticing and unique character, giving rise to a delightful intensity of flavours and aromas. The 2006 harvest yielded a limited total of 4,514 bottles and 800 magnums, each bearing a unique, individual number.

Entirely crafted from Pinot Noir sourced in a single parcel of Clos d`Ambonnay, Krug`s 2006 Blanc de Noirs Brut Clos d’Ambonnay is one of my favorite vintages at this address. Evoking aromas of spices, smoke, white fruits, brioche, pastry, dried herbs, plum and ripe orchard fruits, it possesses a full-bodied, round and charming mid-palate framed by a crystalline and pure texture. It has a delicately phenolic mid-palate and pinpoint mousse that leads to a long, mineral and saline finish marked by subtle iodine notes and gastronomic bitterness. Classic and precise, this is purity and elegance incarnate. Though already superb, readers should be patient to enjoy this Champagne at its peak. - Yohan Castaing

Krug’s 2006 Clos d’Ambonnay is superb. It offers a beguiling interplay of richness from the warm, solar year and strong mineral underpinnings that wrap it all together. Hints of apricot, plum, baked apple tart and spice soar out of the glass. Soft, curvy and exceptionally well-balanced, the 2006 is the most sensual young Clos d’Ambonnay I have tasted. This is a magnificent showing from Krug. That’s pretty much all there is to it. Best of all, the 2006 is a rare Clos d’Ambonnay that can be enjoyed upon release. Harvest took place over two days and wrapped up on September 22, considered late at the time.Antonio Galloni2nd November 2023

Elegant Luxury

A Champagne house that needs no introduction. Founded by Johann Krug in Reims in 1843, this celebrated Maison specialises in prestige cuvées, including the multi-vintage flagship Grande Cuvée as well as the glorious Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, made exclusively from Pinot Noir. Another highlight is the highly coveted Clos du Mesnil - a rare Blanc de Blancs produced only in exceptional years from a single, tiny 1.84ha plot of Chardonnay grapes in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Krug has been owned by LVMH since 1999.

While Krug's excellent Grande Cuvée and Rosé have historically been released as multi-vintage blends with no indication of year, the team have now started including edition numbers so consumers can easily discover the age and provenance of the base wines used in the blend.
