Holger Koch Pinot Noir Herrenstück 2020 is a German Pinot Noir from the Herrenstück vineyard located in the Ahr region. The vineyard is renowned for its unique volcanic soil composition, which influences the wine`s pronounced mineral character. This vintage is crafted primarily from Burgundy Pinot Noir clones, including the notable clone 777. The winemaking process involves spontaneous fermentation in wood, with 30% whole clusters, followed by 11 months of ageing in barrique.

AP number 13 21. 10% whole bunch, aged in older wood.
Light ruby. Seems spicier than the Pinot Noir ***, though there is less oak influence. Showing its youth in the firm but refined tannins – still firmly chewy on the finish. I think this is better value than the Pinot Noir ***. (JH)
